Deep Roots in Fairbanks
I’m Olivia Rodriguez, a third-generation Alaskan, small business owner, and proud Downtown homeowner. Fairbanks has been my home for my entire life, and my love for this community runs deep. In 2024, I was honored with the Community Spirit Award, also known as the “Golden Heart of the Golden Heart City,” by the Fairbanks North Star Borough—an acknowledgment of my dedication to our vibrant city.
Professional Background
My journey began at Monroe Catholic High School, followed by earning a degree in Advertising from the University of Idaho. After gaining valuable experience working with both national and local advertising agencies, I opened my own business in 2022. I’ve also had the privilege of serving on the Board of Directors for both Festival Fairbanks and the Downtown Association of Fairbanks. Today, I continue to collaborate with various organizations to drive local development and enrich our community.
Personal Background
Growing up in Fairbanks, I was surrounded by the unique beauty and challenges of life in Alaska. My husband, James, and I, along with our two dogs, Finn and Zeena, have a deep appreciation for our Golden Heart community. Whether we’re participating in local events, supporting small businesses, or enjoying quiet moments under the Midnight Sun, we cherish every aspect of life here. This connection to Fairbanks is more than just where we live—it’s a part of who we are. It’s this deep-rooted love for our community that drives me to give back and work to ensure that future generations can experience the same sense of belonging that has been so important in my life.

Fairbanks is a unique and vibrant community with incredible potential. As a lifelong resident, I am deeply invested in the future of our city. One of my top priorities is the revitalization of downtown Fairbanks. I envision a walkable, community-oriented hub where residents and visitors can enjoy our city’s rich history, iconic local businesses, and cultural offerings. I will work to support policies that encourage local business growth, improve infrastructure, and enhance public spaces, making downtown a thriving destination for all.
Transparency & Engagement in Government
Transparency and engagement are at the heart of effective local government. My experience in the Citizens Engagement Academy at the City of Fairbanks showed me how vital it is for residents to be informed and involved in city decisions. I am committed to fostering clear communication between the city and its residents, ensuring that all voices are heard.
Fiscal Responsibility
Fiscal responsibility is crucial for the sustainable growth of our community. I will focus on ensuring that our city’s budget reflects the needs and priorities of Fairbanks, while also maintaining a balanced approach to managing resources. By working collaboratively with fellow council members, city staff, and the public, I am confident we can achieve meaningful progress for Fairbanks.
